Calibre support Empty Calibre support

This seems to be a great app, and is much more efficient at finding matches than the Comicvine plugin for Calibre.

What would be great would be the option to save the retrieved metadata in a form usable by Calibre (namely an OPF file in the same directory as the comic, and a cover.jpg file for the cover).

I would like to second this request!
It would be GREAT if ComicTagger would also create Calibre compatible metadata!
Calibre is an excellent Library Manager, but it is very time-consuming to Tag comics with Calibre!
I presently combine the goodreads and comicvine plug-ins to Tag my comics.
…using this method its always necessary to find the comic issue first on comicvine, then to copy & paste the number from the web-address into the calibre book ID field
i.e.
comicvine:1234567
then the comicvine plug-in will find the comic issue on comicvine.
then you must alter the field to match your chosen naming method…
etc…
and so on…

If ComicTagger could help automate this process in any way? Very Happy

Calibre support Empty What to do?

Post  geekraver Thu Mar 26, 2015 1:36 pm

I'm a bit concerned that this project is dead. There have been no updates in about a year. Google Code is shutting down and projects are migrating to GitHub.

I have several fixes I have made to the code that would be great to get in. Hopefully the owner will migrate to GitHub soon and I can do a pull request.

I could possibly do the work for Calibre too although I have given up on using Calibre for my comics now. Instead I am using a server that is just for comics called Ubooquity. It is pretty good.

Hi, thanks for your reply!
I am thinking the same, you may be right, I think ComicTagger has been abandoned?!
True, there has not been an Update in a very long time! :-(
…Might be time for a new developer to fork this project?
–its still missing a few essentials for comic tagging!
–I'd like to be able to alter and append extra information to the comic titles in Bulk!
like instead of "Issue Title"
I'd prefer
Series, Vol.01, #001 Issue Title
and changing each title one by one, is a bit time consuming!
I end up spending more time tagging the comics than actually reading them!
LOL

Thanks for that link for the comicserver, its looks very interesting!

…I have not tried it out, but Calibre has a content server as well!
I must get around to trying it out sometime!

I read about a work-around that people use to get ComicTagger Tags into Calibre:
1) Import comics in Comicrack - Select all - Convert to CBZ
2) Use Comictagger to tag the files in "CBL" format
3) Import comics in Calibre
Calibre will then pick up the tags, most of them anyway, but unfortunately it does not pick up the IDs!
which is VERY useful in Calibre
ie comicvine:12345
(*sorry I wanted to post the link to the original Post, but I am not allowed; being a new user!)

Comictagger Native Calibre Support would of course be preferable!
but for now, its an ok workaround…
