Developers - first to say, great job getting this software done. I've been playing around with mp3 tags for years and I hope these suggestions will help you guys will development for the future.

Sorry if they've been proposed/suggested before. Hey ho.

  • After auto-tagging - when there is a select correct match option - show issue number (maybe volume number) in table so I can decide whether the match is correct. If I just have the title it is not enough!
  • When deleting comics from the list - make the selector go to the next or previous in the list rather than the top to make it easier to run through the list for whatever reason.
  • When auto-identify doesn’t show up a search, instead of showing an empty search box, maybe show a box where you can do your own search i.e. enter series title and find what you’re looking for instead of just a dead end which isn’t helpful to anybody. Otherwise, I have to go back and change the series tag then do another search. An extra step I don’t need to be doing.
  • Have a series match - i.e. you have issues 1-30 of a certain series - if you do a search for the whole lot and select the series, all issues get put in the right order for that series. YACreader does something like this. It’ll save me having to run through entire series and enter the issue number which I’ve had to do on occasion.
  • Sometimes the parser doesn’t work - I’ve even put in # before the only number in the title of the file and it still doesn’t show up as the issue number not sure why!?
  • Have a parser where you can enter the file name details (like the rename parser) and the system gleans that information from the files. Again, it’ll save a whole lot of manual entry.
  • Have a way of quickly editing multiple files to enter the issue no for example. At the moment, if the parser doesn’t work, I have to run through the whole lot manually, so I enter the issue number, press command-s to save, move the cursor left to confirm, move the mouse to the file list, select the next issue, move the mouse back to the issue box, start again. Maybe just something as simple as having a shortcut that saves and moves to the next file - simple, but effective, it’ll take the pain out of manually entering the issue numbers or whatever.
  • Batch edit - of course, this is a requested feature. Again, it’ll definitely be a great help. Just place checkboxes next to the form entry fields in batch edit mode - have them auto-checked whenever anything is entered in this field. This’ll help loads if people just want to enter a writer/artist for a whole series and forget about doing the tagging.

It’s a very time-consuming process tagging the comics, I have to say. The information is great and I think I’ll go ahead with trying to update my several thousand comics like this, but it’s going to take a good few weeks of work to get it all done I think. Thanks for the software to let me do this. Hope these comments have been of some help!

Some suggestions Empty Parser

OK as well, I've noticed that with the parser, what happens is that the first time it goes in, it writes the tags, if it's not successful the second time (if I've renamed the files) then it doesn't re-parse the file as the old CBL tags are still on there. Once in, it's manual entry if it doesn't work out for you.

... So I have to command-D to remove the tags from the files, then restart CBT (it doesn't recognise the files if I add them as a folder again), then change the titles into the correct format, then add them again.
