Volume Number

Post  DP812 on Sat Jan 26, 2013 8:21 pm

I'm not sure if this is a problem with ComicTagger or with ComicVine, but I've noticed that volume numbers aren't getting tagged like they used to. So far, I've had this happen with Superman, Batman, and Green Arrow.

Okay, so I ran a test with Batman Volume 2 (the current series) and it found them all on auto and tagged them with with the second volume for CBL, so it looks like it may be comicvine thing from my end. For the record, I had them named: Batman V2 001.

That being said, I noticed if I tried to rename them first and include the volume in the name, it would name them Batman #2 001 and would not find anything. So, now they are renamed Batman #001 (2001). Any idea how to get them to have the volume in there as "V2" instead of #2?

DP, Comic Vine doesn't provide a sequential volume number, but if it's indicated in the filename, it should be parsed out. I know some people like to use the series/volume start year as the volume, so you can set that in the preferences.

Phunetik, you change the rename template in the settings. When you bring up the rename dialog there is a button that brings you there directly. Some info here:

Thanks, CT, I'll give those options a try.

Okay, I've found out what's wrong. For some reason, after tagging the files, even if the filename has been parsed, the volume number disappears completely. If I re-parse the filename after it's been tagged, the volume number shows up, but I have to do it file by file.

Since ComicVine doesn't pay any attention to the volume number, can this field just be left as-is in ComicTagger instead of erasing it?

It should have been doing this. You uncovered a bug in the CBI/CBL tag writing. Will be fixed in the next version.
