Just curious how you guys deal with storylines that span multiple titles. For instance, I got my hands on the complete "Avengers Vs X-Men," so, in addition to the actual 12 issues, there are many more tie-ins. I see that there is a fields in CT for "story arc" and "series group," but is there a way to keep it in a large reading order? Maybe something like a "Story Line" number in addition to the actual issue numbers?

Hopefully that makes sense. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The Comic Rack scheme supports the Alternate Number which I think you are looking for. Have a peek over in their forums for discussions on this.

CBL has reading lists, similar to playlists in iTunes, but with far less features. Like in iTunes, there are two types of reading lists, regular and smart lists. Smart lists automatically add any title that meets the requirements, so to use Avengers vs. X-Men as an example, you would click on File, New Smart List, and a window will pop up asking what the requirements are for this list. You'd name the list Avengers vs. X-Men and then you could give it whatever property you want. I usually set it to Tag is and then enter the name of the crossover. So you'd put Tag is Avengers vs. X-Men. Then you'd have to find all the issues and add in that tag in the metadata and they'll all appear in the Smart List.

Now in iTunes, you can rearrange a playlist into whatever you want. Can't do this with CBL's reading lists. Your organization options are completely limited to CBL's main view, so the only way to really organize them in a proper reading order is to change the title of each issue to Avengers vs. X-Men Part 1, Part 2, etc.

Given the prevalence of crossovers in American comics, reading lists with a way to designate reading order seems like such a no-brainer, yet only ComicRack seems to have included it.

They've said their iOS app is due for release at the end of the first quarter (so around the end of March or early April), and I don't think they'll have an OSX port available until the summer at best. But it also doesn't look like CBL is really serious about doing a substantive update to their OSX version. The latest update in over a year is just a beta release and the only changes in it are the main layout window is saved and restored on the next launch and there's support for trackpad gestures (but only if you have your trackpad set up a certain way). The lack of implementing any serious features that people have requested time and time again shows me that they're not really serious about it. Mad So looks like I'm holding out for the OSX port of ComicRack.
