Question about dates in ComicTagger
Hi !!!
first of all, thanks a lot for this amazing tool !
Currently, i'm using it to dev a little script un python in order to sort and move my comics.
I just have a question about dates parameters (year, day, month) in the genericmetadata class (/comictaggerlib/genericmetadata.py)
So far, i've been able to scan my files, and get the Metadata, but I don't know if the year parameter is :
- Date the scan has been released
- Date the issue has been released
- Date the serie has been released
And from where is this information is provided (filename only, or also online ?)
Thank you !
(When my script is finished, if someone's interested, I will share it here :-) )
(PS: sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native speaker)

Re: Question about dates in ComicTagger
Hey Blusky,
Glad you're happy with ComicTagger!
The Year, Month and Day fields are the publication or cover dates of the issue as indicated by the publisher. Depending on the publisher the date may actually be in the future. See this page for some background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_date
ComicTagger will get this information from Comic Vine, or will also try to get it from the filename. (If I recall correctly, it will only try to parse out the year from the filename). See the ComicTagger wiki for more information on the filename parsing: https://code.google.com/p/comictagger/wiki/UserGuide#Filename_Parsing Note that the series start year (sometimes used as the volume number) might also be parsed from the filename.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can clarify anything for you.
And, yes, please, share your script!
